Sarah Palin: Her ability to balance work and family?
September 14, 2008
Republican John Mc Cain’s vice presidential pick, Sarah Palin, a mother of five and a soon to be grandmother. At age 44, she wowed conservatives with her family values when she delivered a baby boy with Down syndrome and reportedly was back at work in three days. Was she too busy with her work to pay attention when the eldest of her three daughters was straying?
There are plenty questions about Palin’s experience during her short period as governor of a barely populated state. If senator Mc Cain wins then she will be a heartbeat away from presidency and that is something to enter the political battle.
On September 01st, 2008 Sarah Palin shocked the nation when she announced that her daughter Bristol is five months pregnant. Bristol is 17 and preparing to marry the boy at 18. The guy is 18, barely a grown up kid who can vote and make babies. Cynics ridiculed this teenage pregnancy as a sign that Palin reneged on her family’s own values. And in a recent interview with Culvahouse, Palin disclosed her husband D.U.I charges. How can she possibly run for vice president with everything going on in her life?
I am wondering how the media would have reacted if it was Hillary Clinton or one of Al Gore’s daughter?

aristo’s rant - Republican National Convention
September 2, 2008
Tonight there were speakers such as former Senator and Presidential hopeful Fred Thompson and Joe Lieberman speak highly of John McCain’s judgment and service to our country. They pressured the Democrats just where they needed to in order to appeal to undecided voters: pro-life rights on abortion, Obama’s lack of experience, and the Democrats’ track record of being soft and not standing up for anything. They also attacked on matters of big government which Democrats seem to favor with huge government services. Read more

We must document our history
July 28, 2008
If we as Indian Guyanese do not document our history then no one will do it for us since we are living witnesses of our status as immigrants in the United States, Canada and elsewhere. Our whole story which covers a period of 167 years, starting from India in 1838 when our forefathers went to British Guiana as indentured immigrants, that first wave was a north to south movement.
Today their children have become immigrants because of policital, social & economic forces beyond our control. Our movement started from Guyana in 1965 to the present and is a movement in the opposite direction from south to north. We in second movement are fortunate to be educated unlike our forefathers and therefore we are qualified to document our stories from our perspective.
Other ethnic groups in Guyana have their stories too and should document them also. I would like to encourage Indo Guyanese to begin this documentation so as to enrich our young Guyanese Literature and History store houses for furture generations and others who may wish to read same.

Baiganchoka interviews Albert Baldeo
July 24, 2008
Albert Baldeo, the Democratic nominee for the 15th State senate district in 2006, almost unseated the Republican incumbent Serphin Maltese, who was also the Republican County chairman. Albert intends to finish the job in 2008. Maltese’s near upset forced him to resign that position to focus on keeping his tenuous seat, and when this seat goes democratic, Albert and allies must be credited for his groundbreaking campaign. No one had the vision and commitment to run against Maltese since 1988, but Albert exposed his poor voting record, and advocated for reforms in state government, demonstrating that an independent minded democrat can reform the broken system of “politics as usual” with grass roots support, and without any institutional support from the Queens County Democratic Organization, special interests, rogue unions or elected officials. Why Guyana should embrace republican democracy and not socialism
June 30, 2008
It is stated in the constitution of the Cooperative Republic of Guyana (Cap 1:01) that:
“Guyana is an indivisible, secular, democratic sovereign state in the course of transition from capitalism to socialism and shall be known as the Co-operative Republic of Guyana.”
Because the constitution was written in the 60s, I want to assume that the reference to socialism is socialism in the traditional sense which aims to end the predominance of the capitalist system, or in the Marxist sense, which aims to replace it entirely. For Karl Marx, who helped establish and define the modern socialist movement, socialism would be the socioeconomic system that arises after the proletarian revolution, in which the means of production are owned collectively. This society would then progress into communism. Read more
aristo’s rant - The Conservative Republican
May 20, 2008
It’s time to brush my readers up on what a true Republican is.
The Richard Nixon era brought about a new breed of Republicans that changed the face of the party. This breed was a conniving bunch, preaching fewer taxes but thinking up more ways to tax indirectly. It was the coming of pro-imperialism and isolationism. Big government was the new face, and has increased at a steady pace over the years, which would have America’s founding fathers turning in their graves. Ever since then, the party has been dominated with officials in favor of a growing government, similar to their counterparts, the Democrats. Now the pro-Israel, Evangelical movement plays a part in our politics as well (these individuals represent about 17% of the general population).

CN Sharma and Guyana’s Channel Six are both closed for the next four months as ordered by Bharrat Jagdeo.
April 13, 2008
In reading the article on CN Sharma posted in Stabroek News dated 4/12/2008, on the case of Guyana’s Channel six owner CN Sharma and his airing of content that seemingly advocated the killing of the Head of State and Head of Government Bharrat Jagdeo, I am confounded as to the how this case was handled against Sharma and more so the limitations of powers of the government. It seems to me that there is no separation of state from the interpretation of the laws that were created to be judicial to all people, under one constitution. Read more
Special Thanks to the British: Donation of 50 Radars
April 9, 2008
I have been closely following the recent events in Guyana where 50 radar guns were donated to the Guyana Police Force (GPF) by the Deputy British High Commissioner, Mr. Malcolm Kirk. The 50 radar were proudly accepted by Guyana’s very own Mr. Neil Semple, current Police Traffic Chief. I would like to thank the British government for this most generous donation to Guyana. The radar equipment that was in badly needed to improve and uphold the road safety laws. Read more
