Gounden: Holding out for Justice
September 5, 2008
Today Sept 4th 2008 my fifteen year old daughter was coming home from school and noticed a pile of dog crap in front of our driveway. Everyone knows Hussey (the guy that was arrested for calling us ni**ers and threatening to kill us and burn our house) has two large dogs. My daughter asked Mike Hussey Sr about the dog crap- Hussey jr (adult white male) comes running out yelling at my daughter “I’ll fuc*ing slap that bitch”, my daughter said “excuse me- You wanna hit me!” (months ago Hussey jr was harassing my daughter AGAIN as she was walking home from school- police was called 106pct did nothing AS USUAL!). Kris Gounden: The Vandalism is starting Again
August 26, 2008
I would like to thank the people at baiganchoka for the opportunity to allow our story (nightmare) to be told as it unfolds. NYPD 106 pct was called on saturday Aug 23 at approx 3pm. Someone had vandalized our property. The police said they were ‘familiar’ with our case. The howard beach police (106 pct) stated ‘you’re pissing off a lot of people with your fence!’. I explained to the officer, this is private property, my neighbors have an illegal driveway- as confirmed by the legal dept of the Queens borough president! Read more
Kris Gounden of Howard Beach speaks his mind
August 14, 2008
Today I heard a terrible story of how bad things in Howard Beach was for others. The dozens of stories (from Brooklyn, Queens, Florida, New Jersey, even the West Indies!) I heard from many of the people who now supports our family’s cause to live in peace because they were not able to a few years back Does anyone wonder why these stories never get reported in the media? West Indians / Caribbeans have ‘NEVER’ stood up to this abuse before, always forced to move out! Last month in Florida, a Guyanese professional told me how he had to move because he could’nt take the police constantly ticketing him in Richmond Hill while others (non-minorities) did not! I am asking anyone and everyone that knows of someone that lived in Ozone Park- Richmond Hill- Woodhaven - Cityline- East NY- Rockaway, to talk about their experiences. The media just wants us to dismiss our history. Read more
One Year Anniversary: Racial Prejudice in Howard Beach, NY
August 11, 2008
Today marks the one year anniversary of the Howard Beach attack on our family. I would never imagine in any of my wildest dreams the events to follow would forever change our lives. The past year has been a learning experience for me and my family with much frustration. Over the past year, I searched for answers to the current situation - I found them! Those that gave me their time to listen to our story were helpful in many ways. We are victims of crimes committed against us that has been going on too long. The voices of victims of the past have been dormant for too long, which is why these crimes continue to take place with no consequences. Read more
Kris Gounden gets an odd visit from NYC Building Inspector
April 3, 2008
Today at 1:30pm a building inspector was walking around in my yard again. He claimed that the property was “leaning”, my steps were unsafe, and my deck was 36 on center. I asked him “why” he was here. He said the property has a stop work order. I asked him again why he was here. He said “I can be here as long as I want, do anything anywhere on this property (I’m the NYC building dept!). Read more
Update: Kris Gounden speaks on the current situation regarding his case on being victimized in Howard Beach
March 26, 2008
The Queens District Attorney called me last Monday to let me know the grand jury was unable to prosecute due to lack of information. Humm, what does this mean (I said). “It’s over!”. These were the same people that called me several times to accept a deal to get rid of this case. Interesting note, Councilman Addabbo and Frank Singh went on a local West Indian radio station (January 2008) to state that my case will be dismissed by the grand jury. Read more
Kris Gounden refers to growing up in Ozone Park/Richmond Hill battling racism in the 1970’s
March 24, 2008
It has been difficult to go thru the past but I guess people really have no clue of how much our people put up with to live in ozone park/ Richmond Hill. There is a local civic organization that meets at 101 Avenue and Lefferts blvd. I am told there are quite a few West Indians that attend these meetings. Its kind of ironic that the same place many West Indians were beaten and arrested (for nothing other than being West Indians!). It was never reported or given any press time. We just knew the places we couldn’t go because we would get “jumped”. Read more
Update: Kris Gounden of Howard Beach Grand Jury Hearing
March 20, 2008
Well today I went to the grand jury and everything went ok. The interesting thing that came out of this is that the jury wanted to know if I was making all these complaints, why the NYPD did nothing. I was actually asked why the local police station did not make an arrest on the night of my altercation? Why Manhattan NYPD (Hate Crimes Task Force) had to make the arrest over a week after the incident? Read more
Kris Gounden of Howard Beach Speaks the Grand Jury Hearing Scheduled for Tomorrow 3/12/2008
March 11, 2008
Tomorrow is the grand jury. We’re going to the grand jury because the offer the defendant made is an insult (only in Howard beach the defendants get to “make” offers. The defendant agreed to plead guilty to a charge (he’s being charged with three felonies), and willing to apologize, and will take a program to deal with his anger/racism issues. Sounds good, right -but when I showed up in court, he’s being offered a disorderly conduct/ willing to apologize only for calling my family n*ggas (will not address threats of arson of my home or killing of my family)/ and the program is for ONE DAY.
