My recent US Airways Experience

September 28, 2008

I just returned to the US from the Caribbean and I flew on US Airways. I couldn’t believe that they now charge 1 USD for cup of cheap coffee. It’s bad enough that they charge 15USD one piece of luggage and $25 dollars for the second piece, now they are charging for a cup of coffee! This is absolutely sad to see what is happening to a great American industry. The airlines have gone to the dogs, just like the housing market. Everything seems to be getting destroyed in America, Just earlier today I read an article on Reuters which focused on the German Financial Minister weighing in on the US financial crisis. What was key according the German financial minister is the US will no longer be the financial superpower it one was? The world seems to be watching the US crumble due to its’ own greed; this point was also highlighted by the minister albeit in no so many words.
Why doesn’t US Airways charge you the price for your luggage when you are booking the flight? Once you are at the counter, you have no choice but to pay and that’s the catch. If US Airways were to tell passengers of the cost upfront, then maybe passengers would pack lighter. However, this would result in less revenue for the carrier. I find this very deceiving as I am sure to many other passengers who were surprised by the additional cost at the airport. As a frequent flyer my experience with airlines vary across the board so to say which one is better, I just simply cannot, But I will say that American Airlines is by far the worst airline I have used and I vowed to never use them again. American Airline simply suck at everything, from customer care baggage handling and everything in between.

My Recent Experience With United Airlines

April 22, 2008

Last Saturday (April 19th, 2008), I embarked on Flight 846 operated by United with a schedule departure from Washington, DC (Dulles International Airport) to New York, NY (LaGuardia International Airport) with a departure time of 8:45PM and an arrival time of 10:15PM. My first time flying with United after 3 years and I can certainly say that there standards of service has fallen greatly. Firstly, they would not allow me to check my bag at 7:35AM, an hour and 10 mins before the plane is scheduled to take off. So I am forced to carry my bag as a hand luggage which resulted in me having to throw away my $75 bottle of cologne, my $55 bottle of hair gel and my $25 bottle of hand cream which are not allowed to pass through security. April 10, 2008

Today, 4/10/2008, USA TODAY reports that 150,000 passengers are stranded as American Airlines cancels 1,094 flights and the Airline anticipates hundreds more to be cancelled today. Well at the end of the day it is the passengers who are suffering due to a lack of responsibility from the airline to get their planes properly inspected. American Airlines bungled safety inspections that prevented fires or fuel tank explosions. The worst airline in my book.

April 9, 2008

Well, I have confirmed my statement about American Airlines being the pits carrier of them all and I sincerely mean that. According to USA TODAY dated 4/9/2008, federal regulators found that American Airlines bungled their inspections that were required to prevent fires or fuel tank explosions. How do you bundle an inspection? This is how… you check a few and planes and pass all of them on the basis of equal randomization. Imagine that! Three hundred American Airline jets were grounded on 4/8/2008 because federal regulators found out and thus 50,000 passengers were displaced. This event comes in light of Southwest Airlines being caught last month for flying jets that did not receive critical safety checks. Read more

American Airlines: Bad customer service makes it the worst airline in my Books…another experience

April 9, 2008

A few days back I had the opportunity to travel to the British West Indies. The airline that I had originally booked on called me up the night before informing me of a mechanical failure on the plane I was suppose to be on the next morning for a direct flight. Read more
