My concern with Propaganda Press and the ideal of freedom with responsibility or more so, lack thereof.

It astounds me as a blogger and an advocate for freedom of speech when I stumble upon sites like Propaganda Press that serves a community that has limited shared voice and depends on independent initiatives to collaborate in shared voice. In short, I must say that Propaganda Press is genuinely doing a disservice to the West Indian community…well; here is their tag line. … A SPECIAL PROPAGANDA WELCUM T’ALL PURE.BREED BRAHMA TYPE AGENT PROVOCATEURS O GUYANA GOV’T MONITORIN DIS BLOG. WE WATCHIN’ YOU AS YOU WATCHIN’ WE LOCK’D N LOADED.
The perpendicular arrogance of the collaborators of this site. What were they thinking when the wrote that tag line???… Such a disfavor to the people who they represent. This is the one of the reasons why as a community we are dispersed psychologically…Moreover, Propaganda Press seems to be peddling soft porn and I am calling it as I see it - Click here and you will see what I mean…
I don’t seem to quite understand why a woman with her breasts plastering the screen is necessary promote their mission…well in light of their content, context is contradictory … I might be getting it confused though; their mission is what is stated in the first paragraph which I think stemmed from some arrogant religiously segregated pompous individual who probably lacks significant social interaction to have come up with such well thought nothing.
Here is another but this time be cautious…it is graphic.
The image you are about to see is of a child in bed spattered in blood and the gore of his stomach exposed. What I am condemning is the lack of responsibility on part of publishers of Propaganda Press to selectively choose to play an image as such. What are they trying to accomplish by such vivid display of human pain? The intelligent mind can understand death and conceptualize it? I mean not because you can you will. There has to be someway to report such information in a tactfully. Click here.
I had initially wrote on Guyana Blog Spot when they chose to display the explicit images of the massacres at Lusignan and Bartica and now Propaganda Press. We have so much power with these websites. Should we not be a bit more conscientious about the content? After all varying ages surf these sites and what is the message we are sending when images like the ones I spoke about gets publicized. Well take a look and tell me what are your thoughts? I’d love to hear them.

i’m a woman. more than half the world is female. breasts aren’t going anywhere anytime soon and as you should understand the photo has everything to do with the story and related stories if you’d done more reading and research sans emotions, you would’ve caught that. the breasts are about the story and nothing to do with the ‘mission’ of the site or ’soft porn’
do you know the ‘child in bed spattered in blood’ is of an event that actually happened in Guyana, and again is related to the story? that child was murdered in Lusignan
again the title of that story is ‘The shocking & abysmal political degeneracy of many PPP leaders’ now if you think PPP Inc are not a pack of degenerates that’s another matter that can be debated
there’s nothing on propaganda press that will harm the psyche of your children. they watch TV and i dont hear no outcry about unplugging the TV which is loaded with filth. a good dose of propaganda press will set them on an even keel.

Do not take offence. I call it as i see it. With freedom comes responsibility and Propaganda Press needs to be responsible to the community they serve. Why not address the issue. The issue is that the website has no internal censorship hence the lack thereof of responsibility. A nude pic on the main page and the pic of of child with the gore of his stomach out and blood splatterd on the bed .is not quite necessary to make a point….

Kim, I can assure you we are not worried about your millions of viewers. If “millions” of peope are in fact reading your blog then kudos to you; however, I do believe some curbing is necessary in one’s displaying of nude pics. And please do enlighten me as to what nude breasts have to do with your story, Prakash Gossai’s friends & enemies using propaganda press to destroy each other & our community because I don’t see the relation. And yes, breasts are not going anywhere anytime soon and neither are male genitals, so should we display a pic of a man’s gential to show what we think of certain individuals?

Like i said before,,there are better ways of expressing your self. when you are not aware of the age group that reads your content,,But then again what do you care ..8 million vievers,,Who cares if you offend a mother who gives her child permission to read your content..just an example

First off - these guys at Propoganda fuel the one thing they supposedly vow to rise up against - propoganda. Second, their uneducated attacks at Baiganchoka’s writers does not help their tabloid style of writing and content. It just makes them look like a silly after-school group that will eventually sink like a rock. They’re trying to drag us to their level, and despite their efforts, I refuse to entertain it.

It is extremly disturbing that one has to resort to name calling when ones opinions are challenged. I am not sure if Propaganda is just annoyed because someone had the nerve the disagree with them, or if they were just looking for a reason to lauch a personal attack on Team Baiganchoka.
After viewing the above articles, I had to take a look at the Propaganda website, and one does not have to look very far to comprehend that its goals and target audience are very different from that of Baiganchoka. It is indeed a fine line between quality journalism and counting how many hits the website got. One is not necessarily directly proportional to the other. It is an unfortunate fact of life that sex, gore, violence and lies will sell. After all, we are all humans.
On a personal level I don’t think I will want my young teenager to patronize a website looking for credible quality news and viewing an ad for sex partners at the same time. (Such as the one one Propaganda). Yes, it is true we must we able to control our children and what they view and don’t view. It is also true that where there is a will, there is a way. We don’t want to make it any easier on them. As adults we fully understand the horror of death and what it looks like , without the assistance of such a picture. However, children process information differently from adults and from each other. While one child may not be affected, another could be psychologically affected for life, because they will identify with another child. It is also well documented in this twisted world of ours, that some children, and teenagers, and adults will be “copycats”. That is , when an event or end result makes an impression on them, they have a desire to replicate it……you get my drift. Any one of these affected children could be my child , …or yours. It is obvious that Propaganda is reaching out to only a fraction of the general population. More disturbing, I have to seriously wonder what kind of literary standards Stabroek News adheres to in order to nominate this type of journalism for an award…and who defines those standards..
