The Roar of the almighty Female
October 2, 2008
If you look through out history, any one would admit that female equality has come a long way. Females have fought long and hard for their rights including groups like feminists who fight and lobby each day to make sure girls like me and you keep our rights and are able to not be seen as just an inferior sex compared to males. The one thing we were taught as young children, you can grow up to be whatever you want and I have heard people murmur about a female president. I think to myself with this current election how amazing it is to see a female run for president and currently running for Vice president .Okay, before you all jump down my throat because you don’t like Hillary and Sarah and how incompetent you feel Hillary would be as president and issues with Sarah being Vice President, at least we lived long enough to see diversity and a new chapter for feminine equality.
I’m not here to debate politics because it makes me sick to my stomach the lengths of which people to dehumanize each other. What I’m focusing on is how far women have come. Don’t get me wrong, there are still loads of societal taboos which women still fight long and hard to get past. There are women who feel they should be treated all dainty like because they are female and there are some who are independent and feel they should be treated like any human being. There are some women who are independent and quite able to take care of themselves but also feel its okay to be “taken care of by a man” and who is anyone to judge how a female feels she should be treated? Yes, there are feminists who fight for complete equality and let’s face it; I highly doubt women would be completely treated equally as men. We live in such a modern age but still people think like unevolved mammals. Again, using the current political rampage going on; just the other day Sarah Palin was referred to as a pit-bull, regardless of how people spun the analogy; I still feel it has its underlying positivism. Why else would she be called a “pit-bull”? Pit-bulls are strong creatures at the same time some may consider them ugly beasts. Being a female isn’t easy especially whey you are a female in a higher position, in the power hierarchy, some misogynistic males may feel quite self conscious and refer to women in power as a “bitch” because even though she is doing her job, women in their eyes should be delicate and listen to other males. We all know at least one person that still feels that women don’t have power, not like male power, [which is total crock!]
The way I see it, I think of my younger cousins who are at the ages no older than 10. They are all female who are growing up in our society seeing it’s possible to run for president, vice president and etc. It teaches young females you can indeed reach for the stars. Yeah, it did take years and no I’m not saying more changes are going to be made overnight because of such, but I do feel more changes will be made over the course of time. We can only teach younger females and more importantly, younger males that we are all equal and should be treated that way. No one is higher than the other sex and each gender should be respected. I feel these changes include women choosing to vote, making women feel they can indeed make a difference and their opinions do count. By choosing to do so, society changes and these one “taboo” so called masculine traits are now linear to all genders which brings each sex closer to equality. For example, like I mentioned earlier about a female boss being a “bitch”, societal changes won’t even acknowledge the gender difference. Besides who cares? If your boss is doing a great job and getting work done how does their anatomy matter?

Got something to say?

Absolutely, I think some women should break away from “being taken care of” to taking care of themselves. When its all said and done we’re responsible for our own paths. I came from a place where all supervisors and managers were female, and believe me they were not delicate! lol, but they got the job done and at the end of the day that’s what counts.
