June 6, 2008

Terry Vivekanand Gajraj is one of Guyana’s favorite performers, he is affectionately known as “Guyana Baboo” after his famous 1993 hit. The album, “Guyana Baboo” is one of his best selling Indo Caribbean albums.
Gajraj’s blend of Chutney and Soka music conjure up old memories and the sweet relaxed local life in the Caribbean. His music has topped the Chutney charts worldwide; he is frequently requested and played on the Indo Caribbean stations.
Gajraj has recorded 29 albums during his 18 years as an artist, his current albums is “Berbice River”. The album is a slight departure from his previous work. The traditional Chutney and Soka music is still present, but this time around Gajraj has added a touch of Reggae.
We sat down with Gajraj before his show to get his opinions on music, recording, touring, politics and much more.
