aristo’s rant - the Dawn of a New Era

May 2, 2008

On Thursday, April 24, 2008, the Bush administration has been successful at passing a Bill into Law which will have all newborns in the U.S. to have their DNA submitted, which can be started in as early as 6 months.

The government labels people that are curious and demand to know what they are doing as “conspiracy theorists.” I, for one, do believe that some individuals are extreme in their paranoia.

However, we must look at the facts: this administration has been successful in increasing federal government’s influence and control, which include invasion of our private emails and phone calls without a warrant. They can seize our property and assets if they deem us a “threat to efforts in Iraq” (a U.S. citizen in peaceful protest of the war right here at home can be deemed such). They have given in to the federal lobbyists, who give enormous amounts of money in exchange for political favors that benefit the lobbyists’ interests. Lobbying interests now controls just about every industry in America today, from natural resources, to healthcare, to manufacturing, to various services, to foreign policy.

Now, they will also have our DNA in a bank, which means the possibilities are unimaginable. Not only will newborns be screened and recorded, but this Law also gives unlimited access/consent for the government to engage in genetic research without consent.

We are being held prisoner by our very own government for the sake of our freedom. It’s only a matter of time before our citizens take a stand and fight back.

“The government already knows plenty about us. They’ve got databases of our pictures (the DMV). Databases of our financial lives (the IRS). Databases of personal identifiers (the FBI fingerprints database). Databases of our address histories (voter registrations, etc.). So what’s DNA on top of that?” - Rob

“Twila Brase, president of Citizens’ Council on Health Care discussing the controversial 2008 government-endorsed legislation to exempt the annual newborn screening of 73,000 children from the 2006 Minnesota genetic privacy law, and how it will provide government with ownership and genetic research rights over citizen DNA collected at birth.”

I believe Rob has the wrong idea. Giving in was never a part of what made our parents and grandparents decide to migrate here. They recognized that this country was one in that hard work brought about results. They didn’t bring us here to be lazy and take what is spoonfed. This country was founded on strong beliefs and hard work.
We as citizens should not have an attitude of “we might as well let them” continue to increase America’s resemblance of that of a facist state.

Is it just me or does it seem like the world is moving towards the future of tomorrow depicted in fictional books (clones, robots, AI, flying cars, DNA manipulation, etc)? Or is it that technology is just naturally leading us in that direction?

Bob Marley said, “Stand up for your rights!” so don’t just give in.

Big Brother will eventually have the keys and will watch over us whether we like it or not! How? It’s not the people who votes to pass a bill, it’s Congress. So it’s all about getting those in Congress to see reason to pass the bill. If the Bush Administration was able to convince them to go invade a country just imagine the what else could happen. It may not happen right away, but it eventually does.

Got something to say?
