Global Food Crisis

April 23, 2008

Well, the cost of a barrel of oil has reached a new all time 119 USD on the open market. The cost of grains, wheat, and other staple goods are trading above investor expectation. Where are we heading?

I am quite sure we are well on our way into global economic shutdown. It has always been that the middle class drives the bulk of the economy due to volume per spending ratio. But now the dynamics have all changed. In developing nations like many of those in the Caribbean, food affordability is rapidly becoming the the topic on center stage. Countries like Guyana will bear the bulk of new impoverish cases due to the already esclating inflation ratio and declining income appreciation. How will the cane cutters and fishermen and vegetable farmers etc survive. Guyana has already had its’ share of economical chaos. How will the government supplement families that are on the brink of bankruptcy and those that have already gone bankrupt

Please voice your opinion on this urgent global crisis. We would like to hear about the situation where you are.

Andrew

It’s sad to see no responded to this blog. Do they not care?

There’s a food crisis and no one seems be paying much attention to it because it doesn’t currently affects them. In the US gas price is constantly going up. They are trying to suspend it for the summer, but what good is that going to do? Simply putting it on pause will not help solve the problem. What’s the point of suspending taxes for the summer when prices could continue to rise and probably will?

The question is why is gas price still rising and how can we get it back down?

The reality is that people get motivated when an issue directly affects them?. Welcome to Capitalism!! Gas prices will never go down. Can you remember any commodity that has reduced in cost over time? You will never get gas down to a satisfactory price? I still can afford to eat well. I worry about those that cannot eat a proper meal. So pay for your gas and be happy that fossil fuel is still available for you. Let worry about the other half of the world and more pertinent problems

Got something to say?
