Update: Kris Gounden speaks on the current situation regarding his case on being victimized in Howard Beach

March 26, 2008

The Queens District Attorney called me last Monday to let me know the grand jury was unable to prosecute due to lack of information. Humm, what does this mean (I said). “It’s over!”. These were the same people that called me several times to accept a deal to get rid of this case. Interesting note, Councilman Addabbo and Frank Singh went on a local West Indian radio station (January 2008) to state that my case will be dismissed by the grand jury. The local NYPD 106pct did not make the arrest (grand jury found this to be the main reason why they made the decision). What does this all mean? Minorities NEVER received justice when they have been victims of discrimination in Ozone Park/Richmond Hill/Howard beach. I’ve met with many politicians, sent out letters to others, only to get nothing!. Interesting thought, ONLY minority politicians outside our area have shown any interest in helping our situation. NOT one Caucasian politician anywhere!

My case is not only about my family, but other minority families that have been victims and will be victims. I am confident in the legal process. I still have bogus tickets that even the borough president (in a 4hr meeting) doesn’t want to address. Who will step up? What are my choices?

What was the composition of the jury? Were there no minorities?

When you think about it, it was only 40 years ago (1968) that segregation was declared unconstitutional by the Supreme Court. That means people of any color other than white had to use facilities and services strictly set up for them.
It is mind-boggling to think that we have decades to go before there is a considerable change. We have come a long way in those 40 years, but we all know we have a long way to go before there is anything close to racial equality in the judicial system, as well as society as a whole.

Where are the females on the site? Why do I see 95% of guys talking? Is there segration on this site as well? j/k.

Regardless of how far we go racism will always be with us. Laws will not remove it from the minds of people.

Andrew, I was referring to your female reader participation. Don’t take it so seriously - I said I was joking (j/k = “just kidding”) - how could there be segregation on this site when it’s open up to everyone?

Don’t give up the fight - it’s the only way we are going to break through.

Our story is in the Daily News today. The front of the queens section. Its amazing how our story gets reported. I would like to thank Councilman Charles Barron and his staff. One of his staff members is an ex Richmond Hill resident, you can imagine the conversation. Interesting note, the last time I went to our councilman’s office (Addabbo), I was asked to leave! West Indians are represented by this councilman (there are no minorities in his office). Addabbo invited himself to my home twice to let me know how things were gonna be now that I moved into Howard Beach. Does’nt anyone find this insulting? It is inevitable that our fight has to go this way.

I had one of Mr.Addabbo’s buddy (the contractor Mr.addabbo suggested I use to do siding on my house) tell me ” Kris ,you’re not like the other indians”. This guy happens to also own a hardware store on the block of addabbo’s office. I got a stop work order on the house from this guy. He did’nt get a ticket (he was the contractor working on my house at the time). Bilding violations? I guess it’s why there is’nt anyone willing to touch my violations with a ten foot pole. I’ve challenged everyone on my violations. The building dept, mayor’s office, queens borough president, etc- all missing in action. They’re all embarassed at the level of desperation from agencies to write violations that originated from addabbo’s office? Do you think I have a case?

Sue the buildings department for writing false violations. Why did you get a stop work order because of this contractor guy, did’nt he work by your plans or permit? Sue him too if he did’nt.

Thanks lenny, this is just the tip of the iceberg. A reporter actually wants to do a book on me. I’ve been looking for help a year BEFORE the baseball incident. My file is with three politicians. None of them helped, one actually caused more problems! I have so many situations that took place here (starting from the first day as we were moving in!), these people were actually trying to stop us from moving into our house!.I have all the evidence. You make the call if this is racism, discrimination, bias or whatever.

I’m not sure how to call it. I can only judge by my own experience. I had no serious problems going to school there. I shop in Howard Beach sometimes and have not had any problems. I have a couple of friends who are not white who live there with no problems they say. That does not mean you have not had a bad experience or that there was no bias. Race and ethnic problems exist I think in all neighborhoods and it is not always whites doing the bias. At the rally about the recent massacre in Guyana I heard the N word a lot in the crowd and it was not coming out of white mouths. The whole thing that is going on with Obama and his preacher is another case in point. When I was in junior high and high school I saw black guys jumped by white guys, white guys jumped by black guys, Indians and hispanics jumped by either or, Anybody can live anywhere, I hope you stay there if you want to. When I was little I went to a classmate’s birthday party near your house. When my dad picked me up the water was flooding and he said the place reminded him of Guyana.

    Hello to everyone
Well today was another eventfull day in howard beach and yes I live in howard beach NOT hamilton beach. My fifteen year old daughter was verbally harassed by mike hussey jr. He started yelling out loud “she’s the enemy(s) daughter………” when walking home from school. My wife calls me , all scared. I come home to find a bunch of teens, one swinging a baseball bat not far from our home(in the middle of the street). I called the police, they arrived, interviewed my daughter, and then myself. I showed the order of protection from the queens DA. They called for the sergeant who informed me that there was no law broken. I informed him of the dozens of empty beer bottles currently in front of my house and mr hussey intentionally walking in the middle of the street as we try to drive into our driveway. I told the sergeant an four officers that hussey was an adult and my daughter is a child. “I will take matters into my own hands if there is violence, things are getting much worse”. I told them, ” You guys would have no problem arresting me if this guy keeps doing this and I defend my daughter!” They gave me the usual lip service and left(they refused to do a report).
We got a call (2hrs) later from a detective about a report, they’ll call back in the morning.
Civil Rights march in tenessee today?
im 39 in howard beach trying to survive another day!
    any thoughts?

COUNCILMAN JOE ADDABBO IS A RACIST AND MUST RESIGN! HE HATES MINORITIES, AND HAS NEVER EMPLOYED ONE IN HIS OFFICE!

    Vishnu,
I noticed the same thing in Addabbo’s office. I even complained to his Far Rockaway office about Addabbo’s Howard Beach staff, “these people are really stuck up!”. I guess that’s why Addabbo has a couple of butt kissing west indians on a short leash (aka Frank Singh - Taj Rajkumar). We as a people WILL get this community organized, and history will remember the “sellouts”.
