Jihad and Islam – The Truth Revealed

The term “Jihad” has been misinterpreted to conjure up bizarre images of violent Muslims forcing people to submit under compulsion by threat. Suicide bombers are criminals against humanity- invoking Islam for their criminal deeds calling themselves mujahid [holy warriors] to pass their misdeeds as an act of Jihad.
The Arabic word Jihad means “holy struggle”. It is not a holy war. War is war and no war can be holy. It is clearly stated in the Holy Quran that killing innocent people is wrong. There is absolutely no way anyone can use the Holy Quran or Sunna to justify the murder of innocent people.
Jihad is meant for upholding the righteousness of the word Allah, for the victory of the suppressed, for safe guarding the places of worship and for defense against the aggression and atrocities of the tyrants. It is not meant for eliminating other religions, destruction of their place of worship or unwarranted massacre of Non-Muslims. To fight for wealth, nationalism, territory, race, honor or class is not Jihad.
However, when a war is thrust upon you and you become the victim of persecution and aggression you are permitted to defend yourself and kill the invaders and perpetrators. There are some Muslims who believe in aversion and conversion. These muslims have aggressive attitude. Such extremists divide the world in two; Peace and War. Jihad by sword is only permissible when you are attacked. It is very unfortunate that Islam is being branded as the religion of extremists, fascists, fundamentalists and terrorists.
The Quran [2:90] “Fight in the cause of Allah those who fight you but do not transgress limits”. There are many similar verses, which the objective of Jihad has been defined as self-defense. The suppressed Muslims are those who are victims of aggression. According to the Quran an important objective of Jihad is the protection of places of worship. A place of worship does not include the place of worship belonging to Muslims only. That refers to the place of worship belonging to other religions also. Quran [ Surah Al Nahl 125] “Invite all to the holy way of the lord with wisdom and beautiful preaching; and argue with them in ways that are best and most gracious”. Do not utilize the power of the sword.
Criminals commit terrorism. There are all kinds of criminals in this world, of different religion and ethnicities. Islamic terrorists exist and their ideology is a twisted one, non-representative of the true teachings of Islam unfortunately. This is something everyone should be cautious of.
I must admit that some people are involved in terrorist activities. They are killing Muslims and Non-Muslims in the name of Islam. They are sectarian terrorists. They are suicide bombers. They have been brainwashed and believe in extremism. The Nation need to realize that these terrorist are not simply misguided individuals. They are people who know exactly what they are doing and doing it deliberately using the name of Islam. They commit these acts on the United States because the government has waged w war against Muslims and is involved in killing thousands of innocent Muslims in Iraq and Afghanistan.
The world press is also to be blamed for this. They choose to call them Islamic Terrorist. This is based on prejudice and racism, which is still prevalent in the West. In the Okalahoma bomb blast the press was quick to declare ‘a middle eastern conspiracy’ behind the attack. The culprit was later identified as a soldier from the American Armed Forces.
How would Christians feel if all the Muslims described the horrors of the concentration camps of the Nazi Germany as Christian’s acts of terror? Christians, in a Christian country, carried them out but no one will blame Christianity for this!
In the Holy Bible “Samuel 15: 2-3 thus saith the lord of hosts…go and smith Amalek and utterly destroy all they have and spare them not but slay both man and woman, infant and suckling, ox and sheep, camel and ass. Can someone please explain this?
The Holy Quran announces peaceful preaching through exhortations, love, logic, mercy and example. Nowhere in the Holy Quran has said that people of other faiths should be killed or forcibly convert. The Quran teaches us the following: -To preach your ideas with logic and love. - Do not hurt others feelings. - Do not sow seed of hatred and discord in the name of God. -Holy places of prayers must not be attacked. -Committing suicide is wrong and forbidden. -Islam rejects terrorism.
Islam is dedicated and committed to peace, justice and humanity. There is no place of disorder and terrorism in Islam. Islam invites mankind towards virtue. The Holy Quran announces the whole of mankind as one community- we are the members of one family.
God sent prophets with books, not with guns, swords and bombs. Noah, Abraham, Moses, Jesus and Muhammad give us the laws and code of life. They all preach brotherhood, justice, equality and peace. The Prophets were the greatest champions of human rights. They boldly revolted against tyrants, oppressors and aggressors.
