March 2, 2008

Guyana Chronicle Sunday March 2nd 2008 reported a public walk lead by Health Minister Leslie Ramsammy and soldiers of the Guyana Defense Force HIV Workplace Program on March 1st 2008 was a great success in the goal towards an HIV/AIDS free Guyana. Ramsammy when asked said “Let it be written, said and seen, that the Guyana Defense Force has taken leadership in the fight against HIV…”

According to the article, the march literally attracted thousands of people, soldiers as well as other supportive agencies including Non-governmental Organizations, other workplace HIV groups, and private individuals.

This first annual march we think is a stepping stone and signifies a united commitment of the Guyanese people to lessen the impact caused by HIV/AIDS by sharing knowledge and motivating each other to stand up and positively affect where they live.

The Baiganchoka Team salutes the effort of Guyanese involved in the fight to awareness of HIV/AIDS. It is a positive step in owning the problem.
